Donate to Avi's Legal Fund

It should never come to this.

In a free country, journalists shouldn’t need lawyers on standby just to do their jobs.

They shouldn’t face constant legal threats for asking questions, filming in public, or reporting stories others won’t touch.

But that’s the reality today.

Avi Yemini is one of the most targeted independent reporters in Australia. Not because he gets things wrong — but because he shows things others would rather keep hidden.

Instead of engaging with his reporting, powerful individuals and organizations increasingly turn to lawfare — using the legal system itself as a weapon to intimidate, drain resources, and silence criticism.

Even when the claims don’t succeed, the process becomes the punishment.

We refuse to let that strategy work.

That’s why Rebel News maintains an active legal fund — to defend Avi when he’s targeted, and to take action when authorities or institutions try to unlawfully restrict his ability to report.

This includes:

  • Defending against frivolous or politically motivated legal claims
  • Challenging unlawful restrictions on press access and filming
  • Proactively ensuring our reporting meets the highest legal standards before publication

This is the cost of independent journalism in today’s climate.

Unlike legacy media outlets, we don’t have corporate legal departments or government backing. We rely entirely on our viewers.

If you believe journalists should be free to report without being buried in legal threats, please support our legal fund today.

Your donation helps keep Avi in the field — asking questions, holding people accountable, and refusing to be silenced.

Stand with Avi. Stand for a free press.
